Unclutter Your Mind #mindyourbusiness

My best friend and I have so much in common but are so different when it comes to acquiring stuff, and organization.

She is spontaneous – she hates lists, resists using an online calendar and is always ready to catch some free trinket that has been thrown into the air at any given event.

I tend to be a bit more calculated and make an effort to keep my time, space and stuff organized.

So why are we so different when it comes to organization? Is one style better than the other?

No – our brains simply operate differently to support our individual needs.

I am an entrepreneur who coaches women how to start their own business. A Lot of these women make the huge transition from corporate to start their new business. Those kind of transitions require focus and organization. And although I could go on and on about the tactical business elements that need to be organized I’ll save it for another day.

Today I am going to share the most critical area of organization for any entrepreneur- YOUR MIND.

The average person has 70,000 thoughts per day that compete for fuel and attention. When you let your mind go unmanaged you will undoubtedly feel unfocused and overwhelmed, making any task exponentially harder. By observing your thoughts and noticing which of the following categories they fit into you can take the first step in taking back control.

The most common categories of thoughts include:

  • Memories – thoughts about the past

  • Subconscious thoughts

  • Judgement

  • Negative self – talk

  • Positive self – talk

  • Plans

  • Appreciations

After observing your thoughts I encourage you to spend time [daily] managing your mind by getting organized, and being deliberate. Ultimately making more room for the thoughts that serve you and “uncluttering” the ones that don’t.

Here’s how – ask yourself:

  • What thoughts do I need to let go of?

  • What thoughts are outdated and no longer useful?

  • What do I NOT want to think about anymore?

  • What do I want to fill my mind with?

  • What do I want to use my mind to create?

In essence I’m encouraging you to throw out the worthless trinkets and trash collected over the years 🙂 & spend time on the thoughts that fuel your soul, inspire you to create and ultimately add more value to world.
